Sound of Music

In 2022, the PPF kicked off the holiday season ‘in the hills’ with our unforgettable production of The Sound of Music. This timeless classic left our audiences humming familiar tunes, while also feeling the impact of the inspiring themes woven through its beautiful musical score: authenticity, hope, resistance, and the power of one’s life, voice, and heart, to create immeasurable change, all of which The PPF feels very passionate about.

Little Women

In 2014 and 2021, the PPF presented Little Women, a show set in the Civil War era about the four March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. The story is a true classic that’s been told time and time again since the novel was published in 1869. The show focuses on family bonds and self-empowerment, and our production was especially special as we had each of the four sisters age within the show.

‘Twas the OPENING Night Before Christmas

‘Twas The OPENING Night Before Christmas’ written by our founder, Leslie Noel, and former PPFer Riley Sbrana. Originally performed in 2008, and more recently revived in 2016, 2017, and 2019, this comedy follows the storylines of dozens of whimsical characters (many of which were based on PPFer’s!), all fighting for roles in the school play. Featuring original music by Noel, the upbeat and energetic show is the perfect way to get us all in the holiday spirit.

Into The Woods

In 2018, The PPF presented Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, a beloved twist on classic storybook characters. The plot connects characters from Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, as well as several others, tied together by a central storyline about a childless Baker and his wife and their quest to start a family. The show examines what happens beyond “happily ever after,” and explores themes of family, community, and responsibility.

Guys and Dolls

In 2017, the PPF presented Guys and Dolls, a musical based on Damon Runyon’s short stories about colorful characters in New York City in the 1920s. The show examines how people deal with their differences and learn to love despite them all. 

A Little Princess

In 2015, the PPF presented A Little Princess, a musical based on the 1905 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The show tells the story of Sara Crewe, a young girl living in a girls’ home in London while her father is on an expedition. When word travels that her father has passed away, Sara is forced to live as a beggar in the attic. This musical focuses on the importance of friendship, and teaches us not to judge a book by its cover.

In the Heights

In 2013, the Peter Pan Foundation presented the regional premiere of In the Heights. The show was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, also known as the creator of Hamilton, and was debuted on Broadway in 2008. The music of the show was innovative, by combining the styles of hip hop and Latin music to tell the story about the community in Washington Heights, their struggles to get by, and finding Home.

Wizard of Oz

In 2013, the PPF presented The Wizard of Oz, a story about a girl named Dorothy and her dog from Kansas who get transported to the wonderful land of Oz. There she meets three friends, the Scarecrow, Tinman, and Cowardly Lion, that all travel together to visit the Wizard and battle against the evil Wicked Witch of the West. This classic story focuses on the theme that there truly is “no place like home” – and we here at the PPF hope that all of our members find a home here as well.

Hairspray

In the summer of 2012, the Peter Pan Foundation presented Hairspray. An incredible show set in the 60s about a teenage girl named Tracy, her family, her friends, and of course, dancing! This musical inspires people to stand up for what they believe in, even if it’s not the popular opinion – a message the PPF attempts to get across to each of our foundation members.

Aida

In 2011, the PPF presented Aida, a musical by Elton John and Tim Rice based on the opera by Giuseppe Verdi. Based in Ancient Egypt, this story centers around the struggles of unrequited love, forbidden love, and the choice between true love and the love of one’s country and people. This show was unlike anything the PPF had ever done, and it started the shift to our more mature summer shows.

The 13 Days of Christmas

In 2011, a new holiday show was brought to the PPF stage. The show, 13 Days of Christmas, was written by two PPF’ers, Jayne Skinner and Andrew Cope. When mysterious events began happening at the joyful town of Everygreen’s Christmas celebrations, a “ChrisMysterty” began! This fun show was performed for two years, and its fun, whimsical, festive spirit is still one of our favorites.

Back to the 80’s

In 2010, the PPF put on the musical “Back to the 80’s…the Totally Awesome Musical!”, a jukebox musical featuring popular music from the 80s by artists such as Michael Jackson, The B-52s, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, and more. This musical is told through the eyes of Corey Palmer as he tells the story of his senior year in 1989. We see the cool kids, the nerds, the regular kids, and the faculty navigate through school elections, new kids in school, a big school concert, parties, and the struggles of dating, which all leading up to the biggest event of the year: prom. This high-energy production was perfect for our growing foundation.

Seussical the Musical

In the summer of 2009, the PPF did a production of Seussical the Musical. Then, 5 years later in 2014, we did our favorite Dr. Seuss-inspired musical once again. The musical, narrated by the Cat in the Hat himself, follows all of our favorite character’s from Dr. Seuss’s works. This funny and whimsical show sets out to remind us that anything’s possible, which is a message we strive to get across every day here at the PPF.

Grease

In 2008, The PPF presented Grease, a comedic musical set in 1959. Grease is the classic story of adolescent teenagers living the high school experience. The retro feel of the show paired with the great energy our PPF brought to it made it the perfect choice for us!

High School Musical

In 2007, The PPF presented its first summer production: High School Musical! Because it was such a hit and the movie was celebrating its 10 year anniversary, we decided to bring it back for Summer 2016! This high energy show focuses on challenging stereotypes, following your dreams, and straying away from the “status quo” – all of which are very important to the PPF!
